Questions

  • I work with adults 18+, most of whom are from marginalized genders, including cis women, trans women, trans men, and non-binary and gender non-conforming folks.

The clients I work with are usually dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and often some trauma.

They often feel unfulfilled, isolated, and struggle with self esteem, boundaries, and assertiveness.

They are also usually pretty liberal, animal lovers, have more empathy than they know what to do with, and are super into using humor as a defense mechanism (No judgment here!).

  • If you’re worried about what to talk about or where to start – I got you. When we first meet, I’m going to ask you a million questions about all different areas of your life so I can get a good picture of what’s going on.

In the beginning, we will be getting to know each other to make sure I'm a good fit for you. Things might feel a little awkward or surface level during those sessions and that's totally normal!

Not all sessions are going to be the same. Some will be super emotionally draining, others may feel like venting, and not every session will feel like a major breakthrough.

As far as preparation, I expect you to take your therapy goals as seriously as I do. Therapy is usually not a quick fix, and the real work happens between sessions when you're applying what we've talked about to real life.

  • Therapy should be tailored to you, your goals, and your budget. I offer 50 minute, 25 minute, and extended sessions, intensives for specific issues, as well as texting support.

  • This is a really personal decision. Some folks like to have the ongoing support of seeing a therapist on a regular basis and others like to pop in for specific issues.

  • Most of my clients find virtual therapy to be really convenient. I am a big fan of virtual therapy for a few reasons:

    • I can see you no matter where you are in the state.

    • You can find a time and place that works for you (in your car on your lunch break, in your room with your dog and your sweatpants, whatever works!).

    • No need to worry about traffic, parking, or the weather!

  • I am considered an out of network provider. You may still be able to use your insurance by utilizing out of network benefits. I can provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. If you don’t want to deal with your insurance company, I also partner with a third party to process those Superbills to try and make that process as painless as possible for you. You can check your out of network benefits here.

  • Two sessions per week are reserved for reduced fee clients. If you are interested in reduced fee sessions, please contact me.

  • I require 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. The first time is always a freebie, but after that the policy will be enforced. The late cancellation fee is 50% of the rate for your scheduled session.

Clients will receive reminders for appointments in advance of the 48 hours to give you ample time to reschedule if needed.

  • Absolutely. I firmly believe you shouldn’t need a letter and it's pretty messed up to gatekeep gender-affirming care. I am a member of GALAP and follow the guidelines set by WPATH when writing letters.

I am happy to meet with you and write you a letter free of charge. I will ask in advance for the requirements from your insurance company, surgeon, etc. so I only need to ask you questions about those requirements. I will try my best to make it as easy and non-invasive of a process as possible.
